The things you will need for the testing include 2 small identical plastic kitchen bowls and a bar of soap. The Steps of Doing Testing Water Hardness
Fill 50mm or 2 inches of hard water to one bowl from an outside tap and also fill the second bowl with the soft water from an inside tap. Then, brush aside the bubbles across the surface. You will see that the water is still colorless. No mater how long you rub the soap, the water should also be clear. Yet, if you find the color in it, it may be caused by the color of the soap. This condition indicates that the water is soft. If during the testing water hardness you see that the bubbles breaking up and the water is going flat, it indicates that the water is not completely soft.
